Importing P2 card

Hi, i have been checking out this forum for sometime now, and it is a very useful source.

Q. I am having big trouble with my HVX (pal). I cannot find the P2 card icon when i connect my camera to my computer. I have installed all the CD's that came with the HVX, and i know my connection is working fine because i tested it with the miniDV function on the camera and that worked, so my question is, why can't i import my P2 cards onto my hard drive? I have tried it through final cut (5.1.4) - file, import, pany p2, and also looked for the icon on the disk utilities part of my powerbook g4 17", and also tried to load the P2 in from the card slot on the side, but none of these things seem to register the camera to the computer. It's in VCR mode, I have spoken to some other experienced HVX, p2 mac users and they have spoken to me in detail step by step what i should try, but all has failed. This, as many of you can imagine, is extremely frustrating after spending so much money on the camera itself and not being able to use the P2's (yet! - i've had it for 3 weeks now, but still not managed - many a stressful days!)

Please, if any of you can help me, i would be so grateful

Thank you in advance

Josh

you'll need a SD card to put them in the camera, 64mb one bare minimum
(the forums won't let me edit my post)

Well no luck still, i can view my p2 clips back so all that is working and always has been, but i cannot import into fcp = the computer doesn't register the P2!

Any more suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

I can view the p2 clips back on the camera* but can't get the computer (g4 powerbook) to register the p2, like nothing happens!?

Surely after all the advice you've received this isn't your problem but just in case- you say it's in VCR mode - but that's not correct, you push the button so the clip icons are displayed (VCR mode) then hold the button down a few seconds- the LCD turns blue and says 1394 disconnect - then connect. Until you see the blue screen and the word "connect", it will not import.
