Importing mxf files.

I hope I didn't screw up. We just shot about 2hrs worth of footage for a promo sponsorship on a bike race. My assistant was dragging the contents off of the p2 card straight onto the desktop (mac). I normally import to final cut first. When we try to import the folder to final cut, it doesn't recognize the media. What is the process for importing these folders. Please help asap. I have a very short turn around.

also, he didn't keep the last clip text document. Is that our problem?

You need to apple/rick click import/panasonic p2- direct it to the folder where you left the mxf files.

Final cut says that there is no volume. The only thing we changed was the name of the folder.

You NEED that last clip file.
Without it..your screwed.

I've never had problems and always made sure I had the last clip file. But what the hell is up with that whole process anyway? What is that file exactly. Kinda lame that you can lose the "key" to your footage.

Dont have the last clip file,

But If I copy the media folder onto a new formatted P2 card from camera,
it works.

TEDIOUS, as hell.

That didn't work either, got lucky the first time.

But you can write your own lastclip files.

now, thats tedious.

You must never rename the folder, it must always be called "contents".
