Importing issue- can it be fixed?

I shot some video in squeeze mode, 24p on the DVX100B. When I uploaded the footage using the anamorphic setting in log and capture, the image I got had framing that showed more than my lcd screen had originally. This is a problem because the framing was super tight on a black background and now I can see part of the wall on both sides.

Is there anyway I can fix it in post other that scaling the image? I tried that, but it takes the quality down too much for my liking. Could there have been a problem when I imported?

Thanks

It's not a problem with what you imported... it's a challenge with having no underscan monitoring on the DVX. You simply don't see the full image in the camera's screen. Trust me... you've always had more in the frame upon capture than what you saw in the LCD when you shot.

Interesting..clearly not causing a problem until I had to be so tight and had no room for leniency on the framing.

So, any suggestions on what to do? Is there any way to take a little bit of wall out of the background?

You can always crop (motion control tab in clip viewer) the edges of the frame a little, leaving black underneath.

If the camera isnt moving(static shot i.e. interview) there is a simple solution.
-Make a freeze frame from the shot. Put this on a new stream right above your clip.
-Using matte filter & motion tab controls crop it to a size that is enough to cover the wall. Use edge feather to smooth to sharpness around the edges.
-Repeat this if you are seeing the wall on both sides, (create another stream for the right side)

I have removed a mike boom shadow successfully with this method, again if the camera is not moving and you have a darker background it is easier.
Good luck

Tthe problem is that the performers are over that part of the background so if they don't get cut off by the edge of the actual framing you can see that its cropped (should have been a bit more specific)
