I can't find anything posted, but I am sure it is been discussed. :undecided

How do you import or convert the internal recording to Final Cut 7?

This has been covered before... several options.

XDCAM Transfer uses the File--->Import---->Import XDCAM menu option
XDCAM Browser uses the Import XDCAM function as well
Sony's Log and Transfer Plugin lets you use FCPs "Log and Transfer" menu option

And the paid Cinemon .mp4 plugin ($99) lets you bring the .mp4 files in directly.

any benefit to using Cinemon over the XDCAM transfer?

The primary advantage of cinemon is that if you archive the original BPAV file structure, you can access the .mp4 files directly, without making a duplicate copy in a .mov container, thereby doubling the space on the drive.

Could also be handy if importing sequences with from Adobe Premiere that reference the original .mp4 files. Haven't tested that theory yet, but it makes sense.

And Cinemon lets you play the original MP4 files in QT Player or preview them with the old spacebar trick.
