hi,

new user to HVX200 ... let me be clear in saying that i have uesd this as a demo from a friend and was not given a manual ...

trying to get files that were recorded in the 200 on P2 cards ... and copied to firewire drive through apple G4 laptop 15" using P2 drive ...

when trying to open the XML file in FCP is asking to be pointed to a "translation document" ...

can anyone give me some advise

thank you

john

Don't open the XML file. Just go to the file->import->Panasonic P2 menu option; that's all you have to do (and all you're supposed to do).

we ended up trying that and it worked but what is the deal with the XML import ... is it not working on the MAC ..

thank you very much

john

the other issue is we only had 2 4gig P2 cards and had to unload one onto a laptop with external firewire so we could continue to shoot ... that is why i am looking to do this ...
should have stated that at first .. my bad .. sorry

also, need to return camera so all has to come off anyway

thanks again

john

I'm still not following you -- why would you import the XML files? The XML files are text descriptions (sort of like HTML files) of the metadata -- you shouldn't be touching those.

Just import the files off the cards or off the hard disk, either way it'll work fine. I do it every day. Go to file->import->Panasonic P2, and point the system towards the directory containing the CONTENTS and LASTCLIP.TXT files. FCP will import the files for you and you start working right then and there...

sorry barry that you are not following me .. but i am not following anything .. as i said i do not have a manual ... again i thank you for the reply ... i will try what you have written once more today when i am near the system ...

thank you again

john

barry,

once again i say thank you ....

i just spoke with the editor and he sees all the files ...

you are a good soul for hanging in there with me ...

cannot wait to receive my camera ... hopefully soon
