Importing DVC PRo HD to Xpress Pro

It's probably been asked but I can't find it. I'm running xpress Pro 5.6.3 on a PC and someone shot 720p24p & dumped it on an external drive. So I try to import the QT files from said drive & get audio but just the white video screen. i assume it's a codec problem--whaqt do I need & how do I install it, please?
 
If they're quicktime files, that means they were made on a Mac. Quicktime on the PC doesn't support DVCPRO-HD.

I thought Avid did though? Are you trying to just play the files, or are you actually importing them into an Avid project?

If you can't get it to work, head on over to dvfilm.com and get the DVCPRO-HD Quicktime Decoder; it does what Apple refuses to do -- it makes Quicktime on the Windows platform work with DVCPRO-HD files.
 
Ok, using the quicktime decoder I can now play them, but then importing to avid takes forever and seems to go out of sync or not play well. there's got to be a better way.

So thanks for step one, but...
