Importing corrupt P2 files

I think the problem is we formatted only one P2 card and then continued shooting. A group of clips from one of the P2 cards we download will not upload into final cut. If i try to pull them in I get the spinning wheel of doom and then final cut no longer response. I have updated to v. 5.1.4

How are you doing this, by copying stuff to your local hard drive first, or reading directly from the card? What Mac are you on? What do you mean by you only formatted on card, was that before or after shooting, how did you format it? Did you have two cards? Have you tried P2 Log?
 
First thing to do is find out whether the clips are corrupt, or it's just FCP choking on the clips. FCP has had problems in the past with importing clips that are otherwise perfectly valid (meaning, the clips will play in the camera, and will import in EDIUS or P2 Viewer or someplace else).

Try copying the folder back to a card and playing it in-camera. If it works, you've got an FCP issue. If that's the case, report the bug to Apple, and try using P2 Log Pro to import the clips.
