I just shot a bunch of DV footage (which I feel looks sharper and better than my DVX100A!) on P2 and transferred it to FCP via the "Import Panasonic P2" option (FCP 5.0). The clips look fantastic, however, when I analyze the clip, under codec, it says DV/DVCPRO @ medium quality. I can't seem to find the preference to change this (if it can be changed). I am super happy with the camera, footage, everything ... even though I feel like I have lots to learn when working with P2, etc..
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Adam
Oh, also, I shot a lot of footage against a black background. In the camera's LCD I saw a bunch of noise in the black area (which was not lit). I took a couple of test shots and imported them into the computer. No noise, perfectly clean. This is not a problem, just a curiousity. I viewed the clips on my 17" Powerbook, which I feel is pretty accurate colorwise.
