i have the dvc80 and as we all know it has no 24 in it but i have the axp hd 5.6 but if i was to import the 30 frame video into a 24pa time line would it have any affect on the video?

:dankk2:

Yeah, it will give you slow motion. That's a way that the DVX100 can be used for smooth slow motion: shoot 30p and capture to a 24p timeline (without pulldown) and you have smooth slow motion. Sounds like you probably do NOT want slo-mo, in which case, I guess you could then "speed up" the footage in Avid...but there must be a better way to get 30p into 24p without affecting the speed. I'm not sure how this is done.

You only have two choices:

play frame for frame and it will be a 25% slowmo or
add a motion effect to it to make it play at "rate"

Thanx guys im clear on everything except the pulldown is there certain command i have to do cuz i thought the pulldown was automatic.
thanx.

There are three settings in a 23.976/24- project in the film/24p settings:

1. NORMAL PULLDOWN: 2:3:2:3
2. ADVANCED PULLDOWN: 2:3:3:2
3. NONE: 2:2:2:2

For 30p capture of all frames (video only) you need to select #3.

Even if working in a 24pa timeline with 30p footage?

thanks

Tripj96: There is no such thing as a 24pA timeline or not - the timeline has a frame rate of 23.976 and the cadence, regardless of which one is removed during capture.

Bilgami: In order to bring in sound, you need to bring it in as a separate capture. Then sync it in the timeline as needed.
