Imported Version

Does anyone know if the Japanese model has any Differences from the US version other than the warranty. I've heard the firmware is different. Am I going to have any significant problems with an imported camera.
 
I'm hoping that someone is able to help me out with this problem. I've order the camera from an importer and the importer isn't sure whether or not it is from the first batch that didn't have the firmware update. Is there anyway to chec this with serial numbers. I don't want to pay 6k for a camera that has outdated firmware.
I need to figure this out ASAP. I could have the camera by Friday.

I'm hoping there isn't any difference in Camera. This is a great opportunity for people to get a camera real soon. I didn't have to wait on a list for the camera.
 
The current firmware version is the same version that everybody's got. It's 1.03.00, I think.

You can check the firmware number in the menus, and you can check the latest firmware status at Panasonic's website.

As far as the Japanese version -- I doubt you're going to get a good answer. You're taking a risk by importing another country's product, so you can't expect USA support. If there are firmware updates etc., you may have to get them from the panasonic japan website.

yes, i plan to go to japan and buy a camera since i live in the philippines. i'm curious about this too, and if japan has a better supply of units. i know they're cheaper there...

Is the Hvx going to need upgrades in the future. I'm hoping it has the newest firmware. If it doesn't, will i be able to upgrade it if i can find it from Panasonic Japan.
