Imported Clips into Vegas dont have the right ratio.

How come when I export a clip into Premiere and I try to bring it back into Vegas, its never the same frame size as it was when I exported it? Below are stills to show what Im working with. The first picture is a still from my timeline, before I exported it into premiere.

now the picture below is what it looks like when I bring it back into Vegas (white being the timeline underneath the video)

So you'll notice that its not the right ratio. As I can tweak the size of the image I can make it still look ok and the letterbox bars to be equal from the previous shot and the next shot on the timeline, but I cant get it to be the exact ratio of what the original shot was. Can anyone help? I hope this makes sense.

A couple questions:

How are you exporting them from Vegas (e.g. codec, settings, etc.)?
How are you exporting them from Premier (e.g. codec, settings, etc.)?
What is the format of the source media (namely the PAR)?
Does the source media match the project's settings in Vegas (namely PAR)?
Do the properties for the exported files from Premier match the project's settings in Vegas (namely PAR)?

Well I do know that my settings are exactly equal. It doesnt happen on just things I export and then bring back in. Ive brought in some jpegs new to my timeline and they do the same thing too. They are a bit smaller than the others. I cant figure it out.
My settings are:
23.976 fr
Full uncompressed, avi
720x480
1.0 pixel ratio
Ive done both, 2-3 and 2-3-3-2
The video is pulled from tape into a 23.976 timeline
The properties match in premiere and vegas, at least I set everything as best as I could to my knowledge.
What makes me think I didnt mess up from going between programs is that it does the same thing when I bring in jpegs. They shrink the same way too.

Let me know if I didnt or can answer any more questions. I need to get this figured out. Thanks

It seems odd that you would be working with NTSC (720x480) material with a PAR of 1.0. Is this the PAR in your project's settings or for the imported media? All 4:3 NTSC media captured from tape have a PAR of 0.9091.

If your media's PAR is being recognized as 1.0 (square pixels), then all you need to do is right click the event on the timeline, click on the "Media" tab, and change the PAR to 0.9091. Vice versa with in the project properties if it's your project that is set to square pixels.

Are the square pixels really making the imported media that much smaller? Seems that it wouldnt be that great of a difference. I'll check what you've said and get back to you. You've already been a great help Jive. Cant thank you enough.

They can make a very big difference.

The screenshots you post are a perfect example:

The dimensions of a NTSC video frame with 0.9091 PAR is 720x480 pixels, while the screenshots you posted (converted to square pixels) are 655x480 pixels. That's a difference of just under 10% of your vertical width. It may be slight, but it makes a difference.

Wow. Very is bolded. Thats probably my problem. I will recheck everything in the morning and let you know if it fixed it. Thanks again. You've been a great help on both threads.
