important fcp questions

I have a test paper which asks several question, but I am really having trouble with these (seeing as though I don't own a mac).
I would really appreciate any help with these,
thanks!

1) What is a QuickTime reference movie? What is the problem with this type of QuickTime? What is a QuickTime self contained movie?

2) Describe how you would import a music track from a cd using iTunes?
Describe how you would import a music track from a cd using compressor?
What are the issues of using mp3's in a final cut sequence?

Have you tried google?

For example:

http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=QuickTime+reference+movie&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

But shouldn't you be doing the research for a test?

Just wondering.

yeah I have tried google and it helped with the other 98 questions but for these ones I can't find helpful answers from websites, due to the fact that these 2 questions rely on you owning a mac with final cut so that you can find out the correct answers. These questions are very difficult to answer because I do not have the program infront of me; hence, why I am asking for help from people who happen to own the program; hence, why I am asking for help on a final cut subforum.

Thanks for the reply

This sounds like a test that is designed to test your knowledge of FCP...much like a certification test. Are we supposed to be giving you the answers?

Easy Shane....

Do you think he'd REALLY be taking an apple certification test if he didn't know what a reference movie was?

No no... this is a trick his 18 year old buddies are playing on him (or us).

It is a part of one of the 12 modules on general filmmaking that we are doing.
Before a few months ago, I never used final cut, and we only get one chance to use the sytems a week. I tried very hard to get the answers from google, past paper etc. But had lots of trouble finding the answers for these 2.

If I was taking an apple certification test, I would know how to do most things on apples but seeing as though I have access to them twice a week, and the course I am doing is aimed more towards camera work and has nothing to do with apple... No I don't know everything about apple computers and I just needed help from people who do... But obvioulsy most of them are stuck-up pricks who would rather post smart ass replies to try and impress their e-buddies :(

I certainly hope it's a test on How to Use Google....

Obviously its not, if you read the questions you would realise that its a test about final cut... Which I am very unfamiliar with. Aren't mods supposed to be helpful?

The link I gave you provided the answer to one of the questions you asked.
Thanks mate, I already saw that link prior but unfortunately it doesn't really answer "what is a quicktime reference movie", it is more geared towards how to use it. The question has a value of 8 marks so I need something in more detail. I remember rendering qucktime reference movies (as well as a contained file) in class, but we rendered many different types of files so I can't really remember in detail, the result of using it. I will pop off to class early tomorow, so I can have access to final cut and will experiment with it so I know exactly what it does, Thanks.

That obviously leaves one question unanswered.

If only there was an official Apple document that described how to get music from a CD into FCP.

wow, thanks alot buddy. Thats exactly what I needed :)

I think the point is that you are asking us to answer the questions that you are being tested upon.

You might ask your professor to provide access to the teaching materials and books necessary to learn these items apart from going to an on line forum and asking people there.
