Import FCP Imported P2 Files

Hello,

I have a bunch of .mov files from a HVX200 that were imported off the P2 cards with FCP.. now they are quicktime movies and i need to import them into Avid for editing. Obviously it would be better if these were still mxf files so i could drop them straight into the Avid Media Files folder btu i guess FCP makes thme .mov files. I no longer have the files on the P2 cards or i would just re-import them.

So.. how shoudl i handel this? SHoudl i just import into Avid like i would a normal QT movie, or can i convert the .mov back to an mxf? Recomendations?

Thanks!

Just import it back into Avid like any Quicktime File. Avid will rewrap the media. The only downside is that you won't have the original timecode from the MXF files.

Annother question on this. These mov files are 23.98 fps but the Avid project is 23.976... when i import these into Avid is that goign to mess up the frame count... will this matter?

23.98 and 23.976 are the same thing. Some programs just round it to only show two decimal places.

Is there anyway to get the timecode back?

We have the exact same issue and now we want to hand the footage off to an Avid editor. Is there anyway to perserve the time code so we can point him to footage that we like?
