IMDB credit quesiton...

Just curious if anyone has a IMDB and how they went about getting it.

I just worked on a huge feature film that I can't speak of yet but I assume I will be able to get a IMDB now.

If it screens in a verifiable public venue, like a film festival. Or if it's available for commercial distribution.

Thanks. So do you just send them a email? I couldn't find a "apply" page or anything. Do you have to wait until the film releases?

Yes it will be shown in just about every big theater in the US.

If you are not a prodcer on the project, it will be up to them to include you.

That's not necessarily true. Every film that I've worked on I've had to add myself to the IMDB page. The first time a film I worked on got on IMDB I was angry for a long time that I wasn't included until I realized that I had to do it myself. Lead Actors, directors, writers, etc. are usually included when the film is first put up, but most of the crew has to add themselves.

When the film has its own IMDB page, go to the bottom of the page and click the update button. That will take you to a list of different departments with drop down menus next to their names. Click on your department, choose add 1 credit, and then enter your name and job title in the next page.

Yeah the producer's or director should start the page.

But yes you can add yourself to that page if you aren't on it. But the film that you worked on has to have a page for itself before you can add your credit. In other words you can't have your own page with that credit on it, you get your own page as a result of being listed on the film's page.

But once that page exists ANYONE can purpose ANY changes to it, almost, but not quite like Wikipedia. For example, you could claim there were 2 directors on the project and that the 2nd one's name was Dorito McSnack. Then IMDB will verify your "correction" to the page with the production company. So you can add yourself in the same way and IMDB will verify and then add you.

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks.

Then again, I spent months tring to get a film on IMDb that had screened at one of their "accredited" venues. I gave up after six months when they kept asking for more info.

That should tell you what I know :dankk2:

they've gotten better about that I think.

In fact it's integrated with withoutabox now, so if you got into a partner festival on withoutabox it cross populates to IMDB automatically. Great for Sundance. Not great for SXSW, Slamdance, Tribeca, or the host of other majors that are not withoutabox partners.

Well if it's a major release that's wrapped it should already be on there. Should have been on there before it started filming unless it was going under a pseudonym or something.

Thanks guys and yeah the film it self is on IMDB already. I guess I just have to add my self to it.

Thanks everyone for chiming in :)

Well. IMDB is a matter of public record.
Saying the name of the film and that you worked on it will not break your NDA I don't think. It's already published on the internet. Right?

When I was in Deja Vu I was posting links and bragging about it the day I walked off set. : )

I got the PM thanks very much. But if you want to share I think you're safe.

Thanks for the info. I suppose I will start bragging after I get myself on the imdb page :).

You were in Deja Vu? Awesome! Didn't know you acted as well.

Your welcome as well. I'll be sharing soon.

Thanks matt. I'm all finished with my part but the compositiers are still putting the final comp together. I suppose I will wait until its done :).

Don't blink or you'll miss me. I think this is actually every shot of the movie I'm in except the on of my butt behind Denzels face which I can probably find online as it was on the cover of several magazines.

I do have dialogue. That is if you can call 1 line dialogue. Is it really a very short monologue then? :)
