Well for one thing, they don't understand lighting terminology. They call that unit a "fresnel" but its clearly not a fresnel. Not saying an open face light doesn't have some uses or perhaps that kit might work for you, but words have meanings and its important to understand what you're getting. A fresnel has a lens and a focusing mechanism. There should be no dispute or confusion about what a fresnel is. That light on the site claims to have a focusing mechanism for going from wide to narrow beam, but there is no lens other than a safety lens which has no effect or control on the light output like a good fresnel lens does.
 
Can anyone recommend a decent starter kit (pre packaged or not) from 700.00 - 1000.00? Renting in my province is ridiculous
 
Stay away from Image West. There shipping is horrible, there people are the rudest I have ever encountered and there products are second rate!
