iMac 27" and 5D MKII CF Card not a good match?

I hope you can help me.

Just recently I bought a 32GB Transcend Compact Flash card, speed 133x, such as this:

After using it in my 5D, I plugged it into my CF-reader and to an iMac 27" with Snow Leopard 10.6.X.

What happens? >>>> The connection process between card and computer is extremely slow - it takes about two-three minutes for the card even to appear on the desktop. And transferring files - forget it. The rainbow wheel is the only thing appearing...

Help me. Please. I tried to format in-cam, out-cam and repair in Disk Utility. Nothing worked, and noone else seem to have had the same problem (I googled).

Thanks for any direction from here.
 
Not sure why you are having those problems. We have several Transcend 133x cards and use them (with Lexar CF Card readers) on our 27" iMac all the time. No problems at all. Maybe it's a card reader problem- assuming it's a genuine and not a fake transcend card - NEVER EVER buy from e-bay! I've been bitten myself - with a transcend card from e-bay!

I'd contact the seller and ask for a replacement.
 
"NEVER EVER buy from e-bay!" ... is just what I've done. But wait - today I had to buy a genuine SanDisk Extreme 8GB just to sort this out. And it behaved the same, awful way. So it shouldn't be the cards...

Any suggestions on a good updated CF-reader? The lexar seems to be discontinued.
 
Hi there, I had this same problem last week!. The card was a genuine SanDisk Extreme 8GB. It took me about 2hrs, trying different things to pull the footage off from the card one clip at a time. If someone knows the reason for this, please post.

Are you too working on an iMac 27" with SL? I have read a few threads in the Apple Support Forum, and it seems that SL is having problem recognizing certain CF-readers.

What reader are you using?

thanks for your reply. I'm using the 24" IMAC with Snow Leopard 10.6.X. and the card reader is the Sunpak all in one card reader USB 2.0.
It came included when I purchased my 5D mk2 kit.

Good news! Get a new CF-reader!! Turns out mine was (I suppose) too cheap. I got new one, and now there's nothing wrong with the speed between cards and iMac!

Pfew! I'm happy again.
