I've read all the advantages and disadvantages of using 4:3 and 16:9. But I still can't decide what to use. I'm leaning towards 4:3 because I will have more options in post but it will be harder to distribute it.
I plan on puting the movie (dvx100b, 24p) through festivals and seeing what happens. I have to assume that it will be a hit and distributed and that's where I get shakey about using 4:3. But realistically, in the end I'll probably distribute it over the internet.
I can decide what to use on my own but I would love it if some folks could give me their opinion on the matter. Should I shoot 4:3, letterbox, squeeze, the adapter (which I can't afford now)? I saw the headline post talking about uprezzing 4:3 letterbox to 16:9. Is that a good way to go? Is it plausible or normal to make a 4:3 version of the project as well as a 16:9 version?
Appreciate the comments.
