I'm stupid: Is the HVX a native 1080 or 720 Camera?

Cause I'm stupid and I want to know so I'm not misinforming someone.

Does the camera take a 1080 image and scale it down to 960x720 or does it take the 960x720 and upres to 1080i?

I'm pretty sure it starts off at 1080 and gets down-rezzed from there.

The HVX CCDs are 960x540 with spatial offset, which yields a 1920x1080 image. Everything is processed at that resolution internally before being resized to match the selected recording format if needed.

It is a native 1080 camera, all scanning is done at 1920x1080, all internal processing is done at 1920x1080.

All recording formats are scaled down from there.

I spent an hour n'a half trying to tell another HVX owner his camera was 1080... because someone told him that it was 720 and upscales/uprezzes to 1080i.

It was very frustrating.
