I'm scared

I'm scared. I'm getting a new MacPro and am going to do the switch over.
The thing I'm scared about is my plug-ins. Can I just copy them out of the folder then copy them back into the plug-ins folder on my new comp or is there more to it than that? There all either Noise Industries or Core Melt.
Thanks

Well if you set up your new Mac with the same User name as on your old Mac. You can hook them together with an ethernet cable and move everything from the old machine to the new machine and they should work fine. I had changed my user name on my New Mac when I did the switch over about two months ago and had to go in and change permissions on tons of stuff. Major PITA. My big creative apps all work fine, but I had trouble with moving my address book. I had to copy and paste everything in as new cards. Other than that switching from one Mac to a new one is pretty painless.

@OP - You should be prepared to re-install everything you have...
@David G. Smith - open terminal,
Code:
bash$ sudo /bin/bash
<type in your new users password>
bash# chown -r yournewusername:admin /YourStuff <enter>

Never use time machine, copy, or migration assistant for installing the pro apps.

Do it cleanly from the original discs, and install plug ins the same way.

Yes, but can I just copy them out of the old plugins folder and put them into the new? I have a feeling it's not that easy.

It won' t be any different than the manner when you first installed the plug ins.

Plus they must be serialized.

With Noise Industries and Core Melt you might have to reinstall through FXFactory. If you do the Migration you will probably just have to re-enter your registration codes. Copying them folder to folder won't work because they are contained in FX Factory.
