I'm on a roll.... another Music Video

that was amazingly good. decent song too if not a bit old fashioned sounding, 90's or 80's. But catchy and good. Very good video though, can you describe your general lighting setup here and what lights you used etc?

thanks

Thanks!
Musically I think they're kind of going for a Killers'ish 80's vibe.

I used 3x1000, 2x650, 1x300. Two were upfront and diffused, the other 4 were in the back & can be seen in the shots.

Normally aspirated GH1 and most shots with a Nikon 50 f1.4... LOVE it's flare.

Footage looks great but the lack of a story line ultimately hurts this project. After 1 minute the audience has seen everything, you needed some kind of girl or other scene to contrast from the main performance.

Good edit, nice colors, and awesome lighting, but the story line in my opinion is what's missing

Totally agree, however they demanded a pure performance video plus there was a severe time cruch as they need it ASAP for a contest they are in. I was lucky to get them to agree to making it a 'music video' as opposed to a simple two camera performance like what you see on local TV, which is what they were originally after.

I also prefer an intertwining story because it makes editing a lot easier :D . Stories are so much less editing work.

*Gotcha

Now onto the technical aspects, how did you do that stop transition with the colors? I know I can do this manually in FCP but is their a plug in for this?

Nice looking footage, great editing, good lighting and cool effects. Man, that's a LOT of work. Congratulations - excellent job.

Looks very good. I still think one should try and shoot 1080p but with the amount of movement I guess 720p was the way to go.

The ONLY pet peeve that drove me crazy was the lack of any mic cables or wireless transmitters coming out of the beta 58s.... they're all just hanging there unplugged... so my brain tells me I should not be hearing anyone...

But very nice flare... what version of vegas and what plugins did you use for the rainbow color grids?

Funny... I told the band nobody would notice. And, to be honest, I think very few people do notice/care but I knew there would be a couple.
Cables are ugly... if I had to do it over again I would do the same thing uneless they had wireless mics

9e, 64 bit

The grids were just a masked PNG file. I created the PNG in Photoshop.

yeah, probably very view notice... but I would have put even a fake antenna thingy or something on them, if even black gaffer tape, to avoid showing that they are unplugged. Fans maybe won't notice, but anyone in another band or other musician will. Again just a nit pick.. very nice otherwise.

Noticed this too, just because i've always have a techie eye out there. I would have covered the pins up with gaffers tape just so they wouldn't be visible, but not a huge issue, normal people would not notice too much.

But your work was excellent
