I'm looking to buy a camera

I've done some research, and was referred to this site by a friend. I can't decide between the DVX100, the GL2, and the new sony HD.... I'm a first year at UCLA and I'm planning on applying to the film school next year. I love making short films and think its time to graduate from my sony handycam....also it's imperative that this camera is as small as possible (thus the models above) because im going to Brazil this summer and want to take the camera everywhere w/me..

Any advice would be great,

i don't believe the sony can shoot 24p which is the reason i bought the DVX100b over a newer HD camera (didn't have money for the HVX) you mentioned filmschool 24p is definitly something you'll want to look into if you want to emulate film with your movies. Good luck deciding!

what other minidv cams can record at 24p besides the dvx100 and the hvx200?

I cant afford 3000 for a dvx100 and Im looking for something cheaper that can record at 24p,. any advice would be awsome.

Just say "NO" to the GL2. I've used it extensively, and it's crap in my opinion. Just feels cheap, not a lot of manual controls, among many other things.

Haven't played with the new sony... so I won't comment on it or the DVX.

All around film LV,
Tha canon GL2,and I believe the new sony HD. I'm pretty sure that I'm going with the DVX100B, I've read tons of reviews and it seems to be the camera that stands out. Also, thats cool you're from vegas, Im from Boulder City .....but im in LA going to school right now... later

oh really? My grandmas buried out in Boulder.

What school are you going to? Im going to Ai, I didnt want to leave town, and Ai is the closest thing to film school I could find since UNLV's program is basically nothing.
