I have been very very happy with my AKG C300B/CK93 hypercardioid microphone. I have also owned Sennheiser ME66 shotgun and Neumann KMR-81i shotgun. A hyper is different than a shotgun, but by far this is the best sounding microphone I have ever owned. It's a lot like a Scheops MK41, but without the price tag.
New they are $400.00. I think you should be able to find one used, perhaps on eBay for a lot less. Mine is definitely NOT for sale. I got rid of the others for what it's worth.
