So I was shooting last night for my film I just started with my DVX100B (which is brand new) at night and was pretty disgusted with the LCD screen both in the viewfinder which appeared much darker and the LCD screen which makes the black fuzzy and other parts of the camera fuzzy. We white balanced and used a Letus35mm Adapter with 1.4 50mm lens, but I do not think that was the issue because when I tested it out prior to the shoot, the blacks on the LCD were grain-like and fuzzy as were dark spots in the places we shot (bathroom, if a corner was lit up less, you could see tremendous fuzz in the dark spots).

A big issue I have with this camera as those two issues. I was shooting in "Setting 6" as well. I'm curious as to why this problem occured and if I should change any settings? We kept it at the settings they were in the camera.

Haven't had this problem personally.

Have you calibrated the LCD using your color bars ? Also, try using a monitor next time for a WYSIWYG experience.

Other issues could be due to exposure and/or ND settings.

The Iris was open all the way. We were looking through a reference monitor and I still noticed the fuzz. Shouldn't black's be rich blacks and not have the fuzz or grain?

Also wondering as to why the Viewfinder is much darker than the LCD screen. It seems to have gone down in quality since the DVX100 which viewfinder is so awesome. The B is horrendous!

Did you try it out without the adaptor?

What were your scene file settings, particularly MASTER PEDESTAL and DETAIL/CORING?

How about GAIN?

bring black levels down in camera. they always look washed out when you shoot at 0. I usually bring mine down to -3 or -4 and crush the rest in post.
