Im Extremely New at this Game

Hey Guys so I just did the huge upgrade from a Canon GL2 to an HMC150, and I have alot of questions, (Sorry guys im a noob)

Well Since I just made the jump from DV tapes to SD cards, how do you capture footage from the camera to PC?Mini Usb?

Im used to using a deck at school that records from the DV tapes, I ask just so I know how to do it right the first time.

another question is what do most of you Convert youre footage as?mov?flv?mp4?

I use Vimeo and see the Memory gap at 1Gb for each file, but I see videos that are up to 7 Min in Hd but there size is like 60 MB

and lastly any tips for a comer to HMC!50?

Thank you for you time, id appreciate the help guys

1) you don't have to "capture" at all, the footage is already captured. You can plug the SD card right into your computer, and edit the footage immediately right off the card (assuming you're using an editor that supports native file editing). So all you need is a way to read SD cards on your computer. Many computers include SD/SDHC-compatible card slots, or you can buy an SDHC card reader for like $10 at an electronics store, or you can plug the camera into the computer via USB and use the camera itself as a card reader.

2) Depends on what NLE you're using. Many NLEs don't require conversion at all, however, many people find that they prefer to convert the files into a faster-performing editing codec anyway.

As a new user the first thing to check is- turn the power off and see if it rattles when tipped back and forth.

OP, please ignore this. Some people forget that they were once noobs too. And they also forget that they still don't know everything. The rattle is completely expected. Don't let it concern you.
