im cheap...help me

I am trying to shoot a 24pa project an edit pure 24fps with PPRO 1(not 1.5). My plan is to d/l the demo of either ppro 1.5 or dvfilmmaker, and use these to remove the pull-down so I can edit the pure 24fps in ppro 1 and export a true 24fps file. A. Does this plan work?
B. If the demos have some weird limitation that makes it so this plan fails, is 24pa look bad or something in a 30fps timeline?
What do you guys suggest, short of coughing up the money.

Re: im cheap...help me

PPro 1 doesn't do pany 24pa timeline so I think your best bet is to cough it up. I think if you decide to edit in 29.97 timeline your better off using 24pn. I'm having to cough it up as well so don't feel bad.

Re: im cheap...help me

Software manufacturers are creating their own problems with their sky rocket prices. Piracy will continue to exist until the prices move down to reasonable. Ask a friend if he can loan you ppro 1.5, software that is in the range of 900 bucks should be shared! My low budget opinion...

Re: im cheap...help me

haha...well actually i wasnt gonna say this...but ppro 1.5 is close to unpiratable. It has account activation, adobe's new security measure. If its been activated on a certain # of comps it can't be installed again. Wait here me out tho, i heard that ppro 1 can edit a tru 24fps timeline, it just can't remove the pull-down. Couldn't you d/l the trial versions of either ppro 1.5 or dvfilmmaker and then remove the pull down and output pure 24fps? If not, please tell me. Also, if it doesnt work, is 24pa messed up in a 30fps timeline(i hear something about a jitter frame)? And if I have to cough up the money, the only real reason I need ppro is 24pa pull-down, do you think its a better idea to get dvfilmmaker?

Re: im cheap...help me

hmmm...i don't know about talking software piracy on a well respected website... :-/

Re: im cheap...help me

not going to talk about that anymore, i'd just rather someone help me with my questions above

Don't know about Premiere Pro, but Dvfilm Maker will "watermark" your footage, so no, that wouldn't be an option. Just try downloading Premiere Pro 1.5 and try it...

No, it'll look fine. It'll be a tiny bit more stutter-y than 24PN would have been, but not a significant amount.

Re: im cheap...help me

thanks again, barry. So best solution short of buying one or the other, would be to d/l ppro 1.5 and import the raw footage, remove the pull-down and output 24fps footage that I can edit with ppro 1(IT DOES EDIT 24fps RIGHT?, just CANT REMOVE PULL-DOWN). COrrect? Cause theres no way I can edit the project in 30 days.
btw, what are the limitations to 24p, other than film transfer?
And last of all(sry) if i were to buy one, would you suggest dvfilmmaker or ppro 1.5

Re: im cheap...help me

No experience with Premiere Pro, I abandoned Premiere after version 6.0.

My suggestion would be to ditch Premiere entirely, bite the bullet and buy Vegas 5.0, or maybe an older copy of Vegas 4.0. You'd get superb native 24P support plus a much faster workflow and a brilliant editing system.

What he said. Ditto.

Re: im cheap...help me

wow, is it really that much better than ppro?
But i mean, Ive already spent $$$ on premiere, if i had the money offhand to get vegas i would just upgrade to ppro 1.5

Re: im cheap...help me

--Yes, you could upgrade to PPro 1.5.

But then you'd still have Premiere Pro instead of Vegas

Wow, it's nice to see someone extolling the virtues of Vegas outside of the Sonic Foundry, er, Sony forums! I've always felt like I was fighting a losing battle in trying to steer people away from Adobe & Avid!

Good to see fellow converts here!

David.

Re: im cheap...help me

If you are in school or have a friend that is in school you can purchase or have your friend purchase Premiere Pro 1.5 from http://www.studica.com for around $220.00. All you need to do is fax or email them a copy of your valid school ID or your current school schedule.

Yeah, it's the "education" version but it's the same exact program as the standard version. Besides, we are all trying to learn something here right?

I purchased my copy this way along with Particle Illusion 3.0 and I am very happy!
