I'll make you all hardcore yet!

Here's another live shoot I just finished up ... quite different from the last one I posted. This has a much more organic feel to it. Keep your eyes open for the foot-to-the-head shot towards the end. It's priceless.

As always ... comments are welcomed. And feel free to cut and paste any of the following:

"Dude, the music sucks!"
"OMG, my head hurts"
"Dood ... I had to turn the volume off"
"WTF ... you call that music?"

Toaster,

I think people are getting fed up with our type of music!

Again though, great job. It's obvious that you're really a fan of hardcore music because you know its intricacies, which shows so wonderfully in your editing. The breakdowns, the melodic interludes, you capture them all in varied editing styles that really flow with the current mood of the music. Tiny elements such as the body flying across the pit when the singer goes "wooooo!" really set your editing onto a higher plane and really embody the spirit of the music.

Where are you based out of? I'd love to get involved in shooting for bands with you. I'm in New Jersey and have my own DVX. Get back at me, and keep up the good work.

PS - What band was this? Sounds so familiar.

That's a sharp video. I'll say that. You truly capture the performance and the frenetic manicness of the show. When they start slamming all hell breaks loose.

I particulary liked the multiple frames when the song hits the bridge. Well done. You are doing these bands a service.

(I didn't turn it off; just down. Hey. I said I liked The Unseen; more punk than hardcore)

Oh man, that was so mellow, I felt I was watching a funeral video.

j/k

Dude, you are doing some great work on these live vids. I especially liked those feet shots with the selective lighting. Very professional!

I remember once getting slammed head first into a guitarist's half-stack while doing a shoot once. Lucky nothing got broken and no damage was done, but I think the guitarist wanted to kick my ass for ruining his vibe.

Those metal guys have no sense of humour I tell ya. If they're not screaming about killing someone then they're screaming about thinking about killing someone.

Checked out your site, you are keeping busy. Good stuff! About to check out those graffitti vids, **** looks tight.

No way...I liked this...
I'm more into Silverstein, Dear Whoever, From First to Last, Our Last Night...not as hardcore...

Sounds familiar because all these bands sound the same! It looked really similar to the last one, but that's not a bad thing. You did a good job in making everything frantic/crazy w/ the editing/camera work. Good job, like always.

I dunno if you need a $5K compositor to have a shaky camera. Actually, don't most people buy $5K harnesses to stop the shaking? :)

I think Toaster mentioned before that he just achieves the shake in-camera, but I forget the details. Not my kind of music, but good stuff anyway. (There's some guy in the pit with bare feet. Damn!)

bare feet = hard core

i liked this one even better than the other. nice variety of shots.

it was a real relief to see that fat kid that was wrestling around wasn't on crack

great to see the ladies out in attendance!

Hey thanks for the feedback ... glad you're diggin the vibes!

- Kevin - word bro. I grew up playin drums in NYHC bands so I'm glad that I still have my "hands in the blood"! The woooo! Is one of my favorite shots, too. Crazy kids!

- Phil - Silverstein = cool. I think Shane Drake shot their last vid ... very cool.

- gks - yeah, the shake is done "on-camera". It's most effective when shooting at high shutter (like 500) and a fine and well-timed shake.

- John - Yeah baby! Join the force! Unseen is most definitely cool. Killswitch Productions (posts here often) just finished their latest vid ... looks awesome.

- ProjX - I hear ya man. Actually, I fried my video board at this shoot (friggin $750 for a new one!). Funny, I also accidently unplugged the bass player during a song (woops!).

- Coffee - you've lightened up a bit ... gimme a hug burva!

- Lyons - yeah bare feet. strange! I wouldn't want to be that dude!

Seriously .. thanks again for the feedback. Can I quit my day job now?

Peace.
