Ill ask again

My dvx100a all of a sudden is not working. 3 batteries all of a sudden stopped working. one will power the camera up for about 5 seconds. the low battery warning flashes then powers off. Camera works fine with the Adapter though. Bought new charger and battery and still the same thing. Could there be somthign wrong with the battery terminal? Also, bought on Ebay. Worker PERFECT for about 5 months before this. so, i assume i have no warranty. Does this mean im unable to send it off to Panasonic for repair? Im completly lost and would appreciate some helpfull info or any ideas anyone has. I seem to be getting nowhere no matter how hard i try.

you can always send in your panasonic camera to panny for repairs, you just have no warranty if purchased used and you will have to pay all repairs yourself.

the good thing is that the camera still powers up with the AC adapter- so it is probably a battery terminal issue. It could be worse, the red CCD died in one of our old sony VX cameras- now all footage comes out green.

dont bother with cheaper "mom and pop" repair places- it could come back worse. Send it to panasonic, it may cost more but its worth it for peace of mind from a trained tech who has worked on these cameras.

If you're plugging into the AC through the little plastic gray card, it's not a battery terminal issue, and that it works means it's not a camera issue. You appear to have crappy batteries.

It sounds like a charger issue. If the charger is putting power to the camera, but three batteries charged on it have failed, then they're either getting cooked or the charger isn't charging them.

You say you bought another Panasonic charger?

Exactly, they all go through the same battery adapter on the camera. So that's good news, considering you may just have bad batteries. Try and borrow a friend's battery and test it again.

If you have access to a voltmeter, check to see if there is voltage on the terminals that would line up with the battery on your charger. There are 4 lttle pins the two on the outside are + and - as indicated on on the charger. If you are getting "juice" you have abattery problem. Just because the power is going out the DC outlet to the plate the goes in the battery slot on the camera dosen't necessarily mena it is going to charge the battery. This will confirm that and if it is then you have bad batteries for sure.

You can send them to us (both the charger and the batteries or just the batteries), would be happy to test them out and return with the report :-)
