They should change their card reader to (at least) FW800. Using USB2.0 cable to transfer 80GB data is effing slow.

if they had a better media solution i would be in love with this little thing.
Anyone interested in buying a set of s16 cooke kinetals? :/

What a thread. Can't believe they shut down the forums. The collective intelligence. I wonder if Canon if following along with the C300. Seems as though Canon claims extensive research with film folks before releasing as did Panasonic with the AF100.

I love this thing. I keep saying that over and over. I like the ikonoskop. Goran Olson is cool. The guy's tired all the time in his interviews. The camera is slick. "There's NOTHING. It's basically NOTHING but a sensor," - G Olson... I would totally buy this camera given the money over a REd or a Canon. It's been my cam of choice since they started developing it.

P.S. Excuse the misspelling. I'm on vacation. I like Havana Club. I liked it a lot tonight.

@combatentropy: It's not just the cam (but I mean the cam alone can grab 10K outta my pocket if it wants while I have a smile on my face) but there was a 4 part interview with olson that I can't seem to find, but watching it really made me appreciate the attitude that went behind it. No camera is the end-all. This guy really inspires me when he speaks. He's a designer by all means. Exemplifies design. Super attitude... Have you seen that interview? They're outside having a beer somewhere in europe..

Is it just me or do the brighter (top ~35%) look weird? Like the gain was lowered too much in camera. The mids and the shadows look awesome, but as soon as it starts passing the mids it looks almost clipped... I only see it when i know there's sunlight in the image.

If it is that way in a certain shot, I would think it is a product of grading. It took me a long time, but it struck me that electronic image sensors do not look more or less film-like than other sensors. All sensors behave linearly. If you shed twice as much light on a pixel, it's voltage will change twice as much. This, however, is not how film crystals respond to light. They respond more logarithmically, or in a tapered way at the top and bottom. So all electronic sensors will look videoish, I think, until you grade them. The main differentiator between sensors is their range. The one with more range will let you stretch and compress its raw image in post (or in camera, somewhere in the pipe shortly after the voltages are read of the sensor) and better achieve the film look. I may be wrong, but from what I understand thus far, all complaints about a certain camera looking more video-ish or having odd handling of highlights is due to the grading and can be fixed in post (again, as bit depth and dynamic range allow).

With all the hype around Canon and Scarlet, I am surprised that I missed this.
