Ikonoskop RAW DII 1st Camera Delivered!

I think PR-wise it's better to NOT have a forum of a product than to have and to frustrate the user base because they don't have someone to moderate, read the forums looking for possible ideas, relevant matters or because it's not nice to have an online user base crying that they don't listen to them even on their online forums.

As I already stated, this camera is classy!

Thanks Kristjamn

Is this using the 1st dII that was released in December... or are they starting to ship cameras in number now?

any way you can post some footage that wasnt shot on 16mm glas, but instead shot with 35mm glass... just the regular test footage I.E People, Trees, Bokeh, Low Light, Motion, And if you would be kind enough maybe a link to some DNG's of that footage... I would like some to mess with and see if this camera is for me or not...

This train is shot with Ikonoskop 9mm lens, other clip is shot with kowa zoom lens, ment for CCTV. I don't have any 35mm lenses currently. As IMS mount, that I ordered is not ready, I have c mount right now, so there is no options for other tests right now. When I get the IMS, I have PL adapter for it, then I,ll do the tests.

Re: The Train clip - Looks pretty clean to me, with impressive DR.
Re: The YouTube clip, something looks out of whack.

In case you guys didn't know,

Kristjan-Jaak (ESC - Estonian Cinematographer's Society) was one of the first to receive a production model of the A-CAM DII. He even shot the commercial the day after receiving it! (I think)

Anyway, without Kristjan's insight and willingness to share about the A-CAM, many of us would still be in the dark about what the A-CAM actually does! Cheers Kristjan-Jaak!!

He was kind enough to spend 20 minutes on Skype going over the camera, showing me the way it is put together, locations of buttons, the menu structure, etc.

Very nice guy!

So you know that the A-cam Kodak sensor resolves 700-800 lines if you are lucky.
Whereby the HVX is a 3-sensor camera.

Oh, dear, please be careful about "lines of resolution." The traditional meaning is not at all what someone would guess and makes a camera sound like it less resolution than it actually does. The traditional meaning is, lines of resolution "per picture height" --- which is to say, if the screen were a perfect square, as wide as it is high (which no screen is), then its horizontal resolution would be (insert number).

So, if a camera resolved a 1920 x 1080 image, you would not say it has about 2,000 lines of resolution, you would say it has about 1,000. This totally obtuse way of talking about resolution carries over from analog, NTSC days, where their measuring equipment, I'm supposing, somehow made it easier to talk about resolution in this way. It is not the way people think about resolution today, when all the time we are talking about a rectangle that is a certain number of pixels wide by a certain number of pixels high. For example, 1920 x 1080.

So, if a camera "resolves about 800 lines," then the image is about 1400 x 800.
