Igus/DIY Slider with the HVX

I use a DIY Igus slider with my HVX all the time. The Igus rails can flex a bit, so I have my Igus set up with 100mm tripod ball mounts at each end rather than one tripod on the middle. Now the only source of flex is in the camera mount . The sturdier this mount is, the better. Liquid pledge on the rails is a must to keep things smooth.

I use the Igus DIY with my HPX170 which is similar to the HVX. It does ok if the carriage bearings are adjusted and seated properly. Dosen't work well for me with macro shots as it shakes too much.

Thanks for the replies. I worried that the HVX with the tripod head would cause a bit of bending. I have the libec ls38. anyone use that with the slider before?

Just to add on: A tripod on one end, and any light stand works fine. If you only use a tripod in the middle, you either need a very HD head, or remove the head and mount direct. The only tripod head I have seen that is stiff enough by itself is the Kessler Hercules.

Grant

I have an Igus slider setup and it works fine with the HVX in controlled settings. There is more drag than you might expect, which can be a good thing if you USE the drag properly.
In fast paced production environments, you'll want something more consistent. Also, the carriage has play and can rock back and forth, introducing wobble when panning up or down or making other camera adjustments. (Unless you install a "brake" and engage it.)

Basically, it is what it is. It works great for some things, but is not a serious professional piece of gear.
