If you were making narrative films?

What would be the better choice?

something like an HVX200 with a Letus adapter? or say a GH1 with support and some nice lenses?

take into account that I already have audio gear to record audio seperately so thats not an issue either way.

I read somewhere that the GH1 was the only one that functions the closest to an actual video camera.

It is. But the 7D/t2i's shortcomings are less relevant in narrative film shooting. Things like lack of autofocus, lack of articulating LCD, and limited recording time length are important factors in video camera shooting, but much less important in film shooting.

In my comparison of the 7D vs. the GH1, the GH1 was a far superior video camera, but the 7D is the better digital cinematography camera.

Oh nice, thanks for that Barry. I've been watching the DSLR shootout, and my first choice was either the 7d or 5d.. I won't ever be shooting events or things like that.. it would all be digital cinema.

I also read that the canon T2i is nearly the same camera as the 7D with a much lower price tag.

There's far more to it than that. But the differences between the t2i and the 7D are mainly in stills photography, so in video they're not that much different. Main things that are annoying on the t2i vs. 7D for video, is that the HDMI output drops to 480 when pressing record, and there's no secondary LCD panel for stuff like the shutter speed, ISO, etc.

I never used the 5d or 7d, and when I got the t2i, I didn't find that annoying, just part of the package nothing to loose sleep over. Just like videogames, you gotta learn to adapt to each new control setup.
