If you shot 48fps can you make it 24fps?

I shot some footage 48fps at 1/1000 and would like for it to be normal speed. If I just speed it up 200% in FCP will it look normal alongside the other footage that was shot at 24fps (24pN)? Or is there a preferred method to accomplish this which yields the best results?

As Barry mentioned on another thread, 48 fps: make song last 0.498x as long as normal; play it at 200.80% speed

you will hen need to enter this value in the speed option of FCP and don't forget, NO frame blending !

I'm not dealing with any audio at all, what I'm wondering is about video quality. Does FCP just delete everyother frame thus giving you 24fps from 48fps? My question might seem odd, because to me, speeding up 48fps footage to 200% in order to make slow-mo realtime seems to easy to me and so I question it...

Your not speeding it up. If you want slo-mo, your basically telling Final Cut to play every frame for twice as long. Basically, playing it at 24p. Thats how you get slow motion. Shoot at a high frame rate and play it back at a slow one.

However, if your telling it to play 48p at the same speed with only 24 frames per second (same speed, just changing frame rate), then you would be dropping every other frame.

Maybe I'm not being clear, I shot 48fps, but in my 24fps sequence I decided I wanted this particular 48fps clip to play at normal speed. What do I do to make that happen?

Send that one clip to compressor and export as 24fps in the codec you shot it in (DVCPRO-HD, DVCPRO 50, etc.). That should show it at normal speed.

If not, you need to find a way to drop every other frame. I suggest searching google, cause I have no clue. :)

I always speed up clips that I want to play back at normal speed. It's easy and quick and it looks exactly the same as the other footage.
