If you had a $1000 budget for advertising, what you would you spend it on?

Hey Guys,

I'm in the process of getting the word out about the corporate side of my business and after doing some Craigslist ads, calling and emailing businesses, and doing other no cost marketing strategies, I'm looking towards doing some advertising. My question is, if you had $1K to spend, how would you use that to market yourself? Would you buy web ads, print ads, join the chamber of commerce, use it for gifts? I'm pretty wide open to suggestions. Thanks for your time!

Maybe you can run a couple of small giveaways to targeted markets. For example, go to a comic book convention (if that's your target market) rent a booth and run a small giveaway.

+1 on the other suggestions. Even in this day and age I'd say a good old fashioned NICE business card and a bit of networking can go a long way (along with a website of some sort of course). Go to events that fit the work you wish to do and offer your services where it is tasteful to do so. Give them a card that includes your website info/contact and so on and so on. Also if you have an independent newspaper where you are use it....advertisements in these are usually dirt cheap (I know it's a dying media...but a lot of artsy people still swear by them and these people fit the demo for potential clients/creative partners ....bands/actors/writers/atrists.

in order of importance. id say:
nice business card
professional website
vinyl signage on your vehicle*
joining a chamber of commerce or development group
doing a giveaway (entry level ipad maybe) on facebook in exchange for signups to your mailing list.

*not some dumpy, half-ass magnetic. but actual vinyl applied to the vehicle. like your logo. website and phone number. your rear window is a BIG, FREE, advertising opportunity

I would do the nice business cards, but even a nice small brochure would be great to send out to potential clients. Also, if you have a demo reel, I would spend a few bucks to get some DVDs duplicated with a professional look to it. I believe the key is to go in to your target client, hand them a business card, brochure and a demo reel. Look them in the eyes, smile , shake their hand, and let them know that you'll do a great job for them and when they see your stuff, they'll see why (hopefully). Good luck!

In my experience Facebook does not work that well if you buy advertising, its far easier to start a group and interact with the users/clients directly.

So new large banner = £120
Two small banners that can be mounted on PA speakers = £40 x 2
500 Business cards = £25
Year worth of show sponsorship = £300

Total = £525/$851

The rest would be decent stickers for instrument cases.

not sure where these "banners" are supposed to go or what show he's supposed to sponsor?
