If you could, Which Remake, Sequel, or Adaptation would you stop from being made.

The Legend Of Zelda! Actually its always been a dream for me to do a movie on this. I can picture it now, gold DVD box sets! Hah!

"Which Remake, Sequel, or Adaptation would you stop from being made"

Every bloody one of them.

Creativity has become a myth in Hollywood.

Chris Rock said it right at the Oscars, something like, there are only a few stars, the rest are just popular people.

The same can be said for the "suits" in Hollywood, except for the stars, or popular part.

Haha Bluespider! Great Banner Sig!

Pookie is pretty spot on with his assessment. I' say at least 90 % of them.

And hell yeah; C Rocks Opening MOnologue was great. Talk about making people feel mortal. Put some playas in thier space that night.

It's just down right offensive that they remade the Honeymooners! It just took a **** on my entire feel for the classic sitcom

You are way too kind using the word "offensive"!!!

I would say ALL movies should be left alone and not remade (as long as they weren't based on previous materials like a book). Speaking of, how come you never have people remaking a book? :) Imagine if someone took a Stephen King novel and decided to rewrite it (Cliff's Notes excluded). People would be disgusted!!! Or if someone decided to remake the Mona Lisa, so younger generations could enjoy it more.

Hollywood is remaking two films by one of the most exciting directors to pop up in the last decade, Chan Wook Park. He made the brilliant Korean films, Oldboy, and the brilliant Justice Security Area (JSA), both of which are being remade as we speak. Very dissapointing.

At least their not touching Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, IMHO his best film to date. Well, not yet anyways.

Now, I must weep.

the shining? war of the worlds? remaking these films takes them completely out of their contexts and much of the meaning is lost. the era, the setting, the culture and technology at that time, have a lot to do with why movies are special. to see them 20+ years later is like being transported in time. re-creating it to make money is cheating a lot of young moviegoers out of what could now be considered a "historic document."

c'mon, why would anyone be so arrogant to think they could do the Honeymooners better than Art Carney and Jackie Gleason? Thank God they at least waited until those guys were dead to pull that ****. talk about rotating in your casket.

how the hell could anyone believe they could do The Shining any justice? Creepier than Jack Nicholson? No ****ing way.

but hey, some folks are trying to re-write the Constitution, so maybe it's not just Hollywood who has the problem here.

to answer the original question, i'd halt production on Superman Returns. Superman is ****in' dead people, get over it.

I don't mind adaptations because oftentimes it leads to more attention for the original work. If an obscure work is done well, chances are that people will read the original source. If it's done poorly, no harm done, the source remains obscure.

Sadly, most kids aren't reading the original works like War of the Worlds or Fahrenheit 451, and movies are one way to get them interested in the works.

Here's another question, should we not reinterpret Shakespeare because he's dead? What's the difference in treating a book, or an old movie like a piece of literature open to interpretation. Attitudes change and reinterpreting works is one way of keeping classic works relevent. I think my bigger complaint is when adaptations are poorly executed, cause that's just bad filmmaking.

And what about when the original source material is poorly made? If someone can do it better, I say bring it on. Who knows, you might get some brilliant filmmaker in twenty years to remake the Star Wars prequels and do it better than Lucas did. That would be awesome.

Stop Michael Bay from doing anything. Pleeeeease! Even the Island is a remake of Clonus, though nobody mentions it much. I think we should take bets on the next sitcom to be made into a crappy movie. I'm betting.... Bosom Buddies... big summer blockbuster... bullshit.

Am I imagining things or did I read somewhere that the A-Team was in preproduction or something? I'll have to check it out.

I Love Lucy without Lucille Ball? I don't think the greediest of greedy producers would really pitch that. Who knows though? I Love Lucy starring Lucy Lui?

"In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team."

My god, IMDB does have a listing for it...

The original Macgyver isn't that old. He's doing pretty well with Stargate. It would be cool if they kept the same guy.

It's not a remake or sequel (does "adaptation" of a book count?), and I may get hatemail for saying this here, but I would give ANYTHING to have stopped Lord of the Rings from ever happening.
