If $$$ was not a problem, what novel would you make into a movie?

I was interested, if money was not a problem, what novel (or novels), would readers of this forum make into a movie?

My choice would be "Stranger in a Strange Land", by Harlan Ellison.

Rendezvous with Rama...Arthur C. Clarke

The number of the beast....Robert Heinlen.

Illusions...Richard Bach

The Catcher in the Rye

The stipulation was "money is not an issue" not "JD Salinger has died, and enough time has passed for his work to become public domain because he will never let anybody touch his work while he still walks this earth."

I think Ender's Game would be a good one, though there are already talks of it being made.

But, my baby, would have to be Dante's Divine Comedy; split into a trilogy.

Seriously, "The DVX Guide" is a great book and I'm sure the movie version would be better than Catwoman.
I'm not sure that's anything even close to a compliment.

:) I'd pay to see DVX:The Movie, wouldn't you?

What about Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged". That seems like an epic to me, with the 1920's and 1930's style. It could be beautiful.

Foundation Trilogy by Issac Asmimov.

With all the controversy of using my own directorial discretion and driving the faithful readers into a lather by not having the original story absolutely verbatim.

No, it wouldn't. It would be Stranger In A Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein. :engel017:

Me, I'd do Silverlock by John Meyers Meyers or Little Fuzzy by H. Beam Piper.

Think someone already did it PK, but it was a straight to DVD kinda film.

I'd like to do Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. Lovely action flick!

"A Wizard of Earthsea" by Ursula Le Guin. And maybe other 5 books (if I have unlimited sources :) ) of earthsea cycle. It was once made into the movie (Danny Glover was in it even) but after Ursula Le Guin wrote an article "How the Sci Fi Channel wrecked my books" you can imagine how it looked...

btw. I would also like to see "A Question of Honor. The Kosciuszko Squadron: Forgotten Heroes of World War II" by Lynne Olson and Stanley Cloud. It's a historical book but well written. It's about Polish fighter pilots during the Battle of Britain...

+ LOTR again with a real gollum :)

I'd pay to see DVX:The Movie, wouldn't you?
Always! Would it be shot with XL2? :) :)

Not sure if this counts as a novel, but Harlan Ellison wrote a screenplay based on I, Robot which is brilliant, but was never accepted by the studio. Instead they went with the Will Smith version. So, I'd love to make Ellison's version.

If that doesn't count, then William Gibson's Neuromancer would make an excellent film.

Ooo, ooo. I just thought of another.

A bio-pic from Crowley's Autohagiography.

In the style of Citizen Kane.

"Between planets" by Heinlein. His "Puppetmasters" too - it deserves an epic adaptation, not some cheap crap that's been released before.

Also "Three comrades" or "Black obelisk" by Remarque.
