If $$$ was not a problem, what novel would you make into a movie?

Man, no offense John, but I'll skip out on the film that covers Numbers, Deuteronomy, and Judges. Too much math. :( The rest of them, I'm there!

And maybe you could add a story. :-)

Sorry...but that novel was a big disappointment for me after the rest. Seemed more like "Damn! My contract says I have to release another novel this year."

Dan

There was a great bit on "Family Guy," with Stephen King sitting in his editor's office...

EDITOR: "All right, Stephen, what are you going to do for your five hundredth novel?"

KING: (Obviously at a loss, looks desperately around, notices the lamp on the editor's desk) "It's a story...about...a lamp! A lamp...from HELL!" (picks up the lamp, starts poking the editor with it) "Woooo...wooo...scary lamp! SCARY LAMP!"

EDITOR: (sighs) "You're not even trying any more, are you?" (sighs again) "Fine, when can I have it?"

Too bad Stanley is now working at the great studio in the sky....

I would have been awesome.

I'm not positive Stanley's working at the studio in the sky.

I think they may have contracted him to the studio in the other place, to take charge of tormenting all the art directors, production designers, locations managers, etc etc who were very, very bad during their lifetimes...

I've got a new one. I would love to do another version of Kafka's "The Trial".. Welles' version is one of the most influential films I have ever seen. I'd like to give it a shot. I'd shoot it verite' style, like an episode of cops....

Is that the one where the guy wakes up one morning to find he's turned into a giant lawyer?

How creepy would that be?

Something like that. It is obvious that good ol' Franz was definitly not a morning person.

Gregor Samsa and Joseph K. both need a good cup o' Joe.

I have to second the "John Carter of Mars." Although I hear it's actually in production!

Because I'm an aviation nut- "Lafayette Escadrille," with a good ensemble cast and real aircraft (WWI volunteer pilots of the French Air corps from America).

Boat Building With Plywood, and for the obvious follow up, Inboard Motor Installations.

Riveting reading, would be brilliant movies.

Bought the DVD in line at Fry's.

Couldn't stay awake through it.

I guess it deserves another try.

That reminds me, I have to renew my option on the Pigsknuckle Arkansas Phonebook... not much of a story, but what a cast of characters....

Have you heard about the restaurant on the moon? The food is great but there's no atmosphere.

For Sure Fahrenheit 451 style. Running Man/Total Recall style Vehicles for cops. Have the movie be futuristic. Make it thrilling like Minority Report, and change it up a little bit than the book. Ive already thought to use a Paintball mask for part of the prop for the futuristic cop helmets, w/ a scrolling LED Belt Buckle for Police ID #'s to scroll across it somewhere else on the all black uniforms. I dunno.. just brainstorming here.

The Bible...as a mockumentary?
Hehe - that just validates the beginning of my favourite book (one of many): Czechs and Balances by Benjamin Kuras.

It goes something like this:

Czech men worship three things most in the world: Women, Food, and God - in that order.

As they grow older, and wiser, the order gets reversed: They start to worship Food, Women, and God - in that order.
Yeah - we, the descendants of the Celtic tribes (read: pagans) that were first unsettled by the Slavs migrating from the East (read: another band of pagans), only to be Christianized a hundred years later, were the first to challenge the authority of Church more than hundred years before Martin Luther. It stayed with us ever since.

Czechs and Balances would be my favourite book to make into a movie. If you think a political thriller mixed with soft porn and a dose of self-flagellation was impossible, that would prove you wrong.

Speaking of Celts, I always that Beowulf would make a spectacular movie if done right. I'm a big fan of mythology. Also wouldn't mind a re-make of Jason and the Argonauts.

res--they were actually going to make Catcher in the Rye starring Ben Affleck. NOT KIDDING!!! Must've hit the shelf or something. Just so I'm not confused, Catcher is about Holden Caulfield, right?

Oh, and Robert Zemeckis is going to be making Beowulf before I get the chance to!!! Piece of crap!!

haha

haha

"Wooo... wooo... scary lamp. Scary lamp!"

Hahahahahahaha!

How could I have gotten that Lovecraft reference wrong?! Bad filmmaker! No mini35 adapter for you!

Another one I'd like to do is a modern adaptation of The Screwtape Letters.

I once saw an interview with Fred Olin Ray and sitting on top of his desk, for all the world to see, was a copy of a script entitled, "Beowulf"!!! Could you fathom that a F.O. Ray version of "Beowulf"? the mind boggles!!

I hope that Zemeckis is going to make a live action version and not use that B.S. "performance capture" he used for "Polar Express".
