I have a 3ccd professional digital video camera (minidv)
I have been reading quite a few threads on this board but still can not seem to answer the question.

If I buy a camera filter Should I be spending money to buy a good one

Many people seem to say like in the case of a UV filter to just buy a cheap one that at least has multi-coating.
Other people here seem to go for buying like a (B&W UV 010 haze multi-coated filter) for there digital video cameras.

As it seems I would keep this filter on at all times (but not to usually stack right?) it seems to make sense to have the best color and quality light passthrough. Although the quality of the filter itself resolution-wise is very much overkill as I understand it.

People seem to also say that the difference is not noticable on minidv of the difference

and finally for a polarizing filter from reading some threads it seems like to buy a real good quality one of these may make more sense .. (for example the UV filter doesn't really do a lot other then protection where as a polarizing filter can do more to certain effects)

anyways I am confused I think many topics are a lot more focused on hd-dv cameras

I think the answer is "it depends". If you shoot toward light that will tend to cause flare, then you will benefit more from MC than SC filters. The benefit of a UV filter relies somewhat on the spectral response of the sensor as well as the UV present in the scene. When I view a hazy sunlit scene with my eyeball sensor the scene looks sharper to me through the UV filter than without. YEMV. In reading some comments comparing brands of filters, some liked the SC B+W filters over the Hoya MC filters because the SC filters were easier to clean. If you stack filters (usually multiple filters in a matte box) the effect of reflections is cumulative, so MC filters can be more beneficial, but control of light through the use of flags and other controls might provide even more benefit.
