Saw Vii, really?
Jackass!! count me in. ( i will be removing the glasses during certain parts of the movie if history repeats itself) which is likely

I'm really starting to get disappointed in this stuff. I was all gung-ho before they totally overdid it with crap that doesn't make it worth the fees, especially considering the sacrifice of color and luma reproduction. Also, how is this supposed to work when most theaters only have one or two capable projectors?

My guess is that many of these won't actually be 3D. The current phase of the fad is likely to fade well before that.

Lots of confusion right now about movies that are shot in 2D with a crappy 3D post process done, not the same.

Irom Man III is going to be shot in 3D (not on your list) Star Trek is probably going to be 3D (more than likely). There is a whole list of movies that have been greenlit and will be shot in 3D that aren't on your list. If I have time I'll add them to your list.

Robert Downey Jr.'s new space movie 'Gravity' will be shot in 3D, 'the Book of Genesis' will be shot in 3D, 'The Three Musketeers' is being shot in 3D, 'Erector Set' is being shot in 3D.

The UK government even paid for all the public theaters to be upgraded to digital 3D proectors at taxpayers expense.

The more I think about it I don't know of a whole lot of films that are going to be shot in 2D anymore, every Dreamworks movie from here on out will be 3D as most studios will also.

The UK government even paid for all the public theaters to be upgraded to digital 3D proectors at taxpayers expense.

Was this your source?

Did you read the fourth comment down?

Whether you approve or disaprove of the Film Council’s involvement in the commerial exhibition sector through the DSN and other initiatives, sensationalist journalism like this isn’t particularly helpful when it doesn’t put the issues into context. Firstly the DSN was started in 2005 with most of the funding going out in the couple of years following so this is hardly news.
Secondly most of these were upgrading 35mm projectors to digital, not to 3D.
And thirdly, the DSN was seen as a giving the UK exhibition sector a kickstart into digital conversion and in this respect was certainly successful as the UK has a greater percentage of digital screens than anywhere other country (I haven’t any figures to hand, but there are various stas out there…).
Considering the majority of screens in the UK are part of big chains, and that the DSN was aimed at improving the commercial theatrical market as a whole, rather than just supporting independent cinemas, then it’s unsurprising half of the money went to chain cinemas.
For the record I work in independent exhibition at a venue that hasn’t received government funding.

I can't remember where I read it, it was a while ago. And yes, those new 'digital' proectors display 3D. As for the 4th comment down it sounds like he is a pissed off theater owner who got passed by for the big chains, as for the figures they will be published in May.

Audiences have this quirky habit of deciding what they want, even if it's not what studios want to produce. They will tire of 3D, as they always have, as long it requires glasses to see it.
