Ieee 1394

My HPX300 is way overkill for this but nevertheless it is here on my desk, available and I need a solution for a project I am working on.... I need a video source to go into Flash Media Live Encoder to test streaming. Adobe claims compatible devices include "FireWire, PCI IEEE 1394". My question is, does the 1394 on the HPX300 OUTPUT video? Honestly the manual seemed specific about that port being an input and to control recording; but does it also simply output video?

Dave I don't know if it transports video or not but I assume it does. I have used my 300 along with the firewire out and my laptop to connect with UStream and it works just fine. I know your doing something different but it should give you what your looking for.

Hey Dave,
I've done exactly what you're doing with my 300 and it works. A few things .. check the table in the manual (page 46 in mine) about the 1394 DVCPRO/DV output formats
for the various settings on the camera. DV is not available if the AVC-INTRA codec is used. So, you'll need to use DVCPRO.
You need to have a fairly healthy internet connection to the media server and I recommend testing your bandwidth prior to any live streaming. Sometimes you
have to futz with the Live Encoder settings to get a reliable stream that's not dropping frames or stalling. I've had the best results with the H.264 codec .. however,
that requires Media Server 3 on the broadcast side and not all streaming services have it.
