Ideas or tips for shooting

Hey guys,

I love the amount of help this community has given me in providing great information on video/film.

With that being said, I would like to ask for some tips or ideas in regards to future projects I am shooting for.

This particular video caught my eye http://vimeo.com/7198839 (sorry about the genre :D)

From what the director said, he used an adapter (unknown) with multiple Sony EX-1 cameras and Nikon/Zeiss Lenses.

I love the "look" of the video. Would it be possible to achieve similar results from a Panasonic HPX-170/LEX/Nikon setup? If so, could anyone give me some insight as to how I would go about this? Color Correctors, lenses, etc.

Thanks in advance!

You can definitely achieve the same look with the equipment you listed. You'll have to CC your footage for sure. But as far as I know the hpx170 and EX-1 are pretty similar in terms of quality.

Hey Capel,

Glad you replied. Yeah, I figured it would take some good CC work. It's gonna take some practice for me to get it where I want it. What would you recommend for CC?

I chose the HPX170 over the EX-1 mainly because of the style of shooting I wanted. I knew I'd be more of a run-and-gun/ENG type of shooter and ultimately felt that the HPX170 would fit my needs better. Also, what type of shutter speed do you think they were shooting at? 180 degrees? 1/60? It was most evident when they'd zoom in on the drummer.

Thanks!
