I'm finishing up a film I shot entirely on a DVX100A. We're nearing the end of post-production and going over some screening options at various theaters. I had two questions.
I know that, when played on a smaller screen, the image looks better because it's intended for a smaller screen size. I'm a bit worried that, when we screen it on a large theater screen, it'll look terrible. I'm fairly certain the theater can make the screen projection size smaller (bring the projector closer, basically) to make the image smaller and, in return, clearer. What's the ideal screen size for SD? Has anyone screened a project they've shot in SD?
Also, now this one doesn't help me much after the fact, but I know that the DVX widescreen setting isn't true widescreen, and it doesn't stretch the image like a real anamorphic lens would instead of just putting the bars on in-camera. I read somewhere someone suggesting that this would degrade the video and decrease the quality. Now, this person admittedly knew little about the DVX. So, for future reference, is this true?
Thanks!
