so has anyone tried these?

they don't look too bad.

viewfinder is ~$200

follow focus is ~$400

you can buy them in a kit starting @ ~$530

Looks nice, but doesn't look like that config will work with a battery grip/XLR adapter/etc...

Not sure if that's a deal-breaker, but I know I never remove my grip. Maybe they'll make an optional (longer) connector for the wheel?

While I'm interested, I feel $400 is a lot to pay for a plastic wheel and a couple of mounting plates.

Yeah... and mounting plates that may very well be made of plastic, mind you.

Not plastic all machined aluminum ( except the wheel and lock down knob). True its pricey but I love it and have used it on every run and gun shoot. Couldn't live without it. I find it better than my standard follow focus because the wheel and focus markings are angled towards me not off to the side like a standard follow focus . works on all my lenses so no gears are needed for every lens, some lenses won't work on the older system but the new version coming seems to work with all lenses. Its a good follow focus when you don't or can't use a separate focus puller.
