Just finished production yesterday on this feature. The following is a link to a really rough opening credit sequence I've been playing around with today. It also houses the rough cut of Scene 30 I posted a few months back.

Thanks to everyone who offered up advice in regard to some technical aspects. I ended up shooting with a master pedastal of -8 for most of the shoot. I really thought the camera handled exteriors and interiors exceptionally well.

I'll post more footage as I wade through it (33 hours worth)...and after I get a little sleep.

Dude I loved every bit of it! What were your scene file settings? U must tell them! Which DVX are you filming with?

Yeah, I remember this. I have a feeling this is going to be a good one. Nice Job, and I look forward to seeing it's progress.

Used the DVX100B.

I created three main settings. An indoor, an outdoor, and one reserved for a few scenes in which we are living inside one of the main characters delusions (nothing drastic, I just pumped up the color a wee bit more than the rest of the picture). I'll have to take a look at the actual settings and post.

Some "ibid" settings. Note a lot of the look also had to do with what I color balanced to. I went intentionally greener for interiors...anyway.

This is unbelievable! I remember seeing some episode in the car, which i then thought was stunning, but now this...DUDE, you totally nailed it ;) Where did you get those fine actors from, i think that`s what really sells this whole thing?
Back to the DVX settings, lol...let me get this straight, you did most of the cc inside the camera, right? I`m asking this, because I STILL don`t have my DVX100BE bought :(, so i was wondering about "taking some of the colour" out in DVX, is that possible? As i understand the setting "Color Temp" responds to that, personally i think (as many users have said over here), taking like 35 % of the color out, makes a great difference.
So yes, please give us some more info on those settings, maybe some CC tricks inside editing software?! :)
P.S. Reminded me Jack`s Nicolson`s "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" a lot :) and some of those cuts where very Guy Richie like to me, sweet.
Once again, brilliant job, keep it up and please give us some more info...after you get that sleep of course, hehe

I think its really cool, little things i saw were i think the first freeze frame with the title is on screen too long...and i think its werid to have all of those credit (in an end credit style...on black with the periods) in the opening credits. I like it alot though. very cool. Oh noticed audio levels getting pretty high in places I would neutralize the mix a bit/

Hey thank you everyone for the kind words. I haven't frequented the site in a while due to our postproduction schedule. We are working our way through draft four of our cut and are beginning the festival submission process.

In regard to some of the look of the stuff online, I did create specific looks in camera for the film, but did do some color stuff in FCP. The stuff online received a quick one-pass correction on the fly just to get an idea of what to do once we actually cross that bridge. As well, the sound is super rough mix. Once we finish the picture cut, I'll delve into the beast of a sound design we're working towards.

Thanks for noticing the homage. I've always described the picture as "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" meets "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", thus the 70's aesethic, freeze frames, opening titles, look, etc. And yes, I did lift a few tricks from Guy Ritchie. The picture has some subtle parodies of many popular films throughout.

The actors. Yes, without them, it'd be rough going. They all totally sold their individual psychosis, making the incredibly absurd journey that is this film, believable.

As far as the www.ibidmovie.com/roughcuts.htm link. Check back in a couple of days as there will be some new stuff there I am posting for the cast/crew to view.

Wow that looked great! Any other details you could expound like which lights you used, etc? I think it was very well done, and everything was top notch. But i have one reservation which regards the music - how'd you deal with copyrights? I think i recognise one of the songs as being from eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

Most of the stuff in that cut was temp. Our composer is hard at work to replace most everything. We have 2-4 songs we'll seek rights to. The "Eternal Sunshine" cut and others were to help figure out what tone we were looking for. It's acutally gone at this point.

Thanks again. Lights. 3 1K Arri Tungsten Lights. A random 2K light one of my Gaffers found in a back room of the university, and a small 1250 watt Lowell kit, and various reflectors and such. Usually worked out pretty well. I'll have to post some of the exterior night scenes.
