Even though it's f/4, I think it's a reasonable price if it turns out to be a really good lens.

I think many would be happier if it was a bit less maybe @ $2,999 or something. Sometimes a few hundred makes a difference.

If this was a T4 PL lens at that price, it would be a no-brainer.

For people who film documentary's or weddings then I'm sure it's a great investment although it's way overpriced. I don't like electronic lenses and the SELP18110G feels like it will last a few years and then give up. For £4,000 I'd rather put the money in to a real cinema lens that will last a lifetime. If I really needed a zoom lens for that sort of work then I'd save up for the Zeiss LWZ.3 but even that lens is far from perfect.

If this was a T4 PL lens at that price, it would be a no-brainer.

I agree so why don't Sony do it?

I'm really interested in the Sigma zooms and primes but I'm amazed at the Tokina primes and I look forward to seeing how well they perform.

They might/could, but I assume everyone wants to push their own mount(s) even though Canon made its line available in PL.

Times are changing and changing fast. Can't imagine what it's going to be like in 5 years.

But I'll bookmark this thread and come back to share some footage from my new $1K PL zoom on my new sub $10K 8K/60p camera.

Thanks. i went through a bunch of sites and could find nothing on the pricing. If the Newsshooter is correct - and even if they're off by a grand or so - this is arguably the biggest lens news on the pro front. Angenieux does have an "inexpensive" series of zooms but this also has a swappable mount and, like Tokina, the "focal increaser". Not only does this represent a great trend but a fantastic buy.

If the quality is there, then this is a paradigm shift from Angenieux. Their lenses were always superb when I used them back in the S16 days. These would be very appealing prices, if accurate.
