Well, I am on a Film Noir jag right now, and I see that you liked "Double Indemnity". I just came across a Film Noir classic that blew my mind... "Brute Force".

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0039224/

Directed by Jules Dassin  Photographed by William H. Daniels, ASC :thumbup:, from a screenplay by Richard Brooks  Staring Burt Lancaster and, as one of the vilest villains I have seen in a while, Hume Cronyn.

If you just watch it for the visuals, I think it is a must see. Great Film Noir. It is available as part of the Criterion Collection on Hulu Plus. If you don't have it, just sign up for the free trial, and cancel latter if you want. With the Criterion Collection on it through, I have decided to keep Hulu Plus... for a while at least. $8.00/month well spent.

Thanks man, will definitely check it out!!!!

You've listed the ones I would have pointed you to. Maybe watch them with a different perspective? Especially Saving Private Ryan.

Didn't see Apollo 13 in your list.

High Noon (1952), Rumblefish (1983), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004); the original poster has very eclectic taste... so these are some really disparate selections that I don't believe were on the list as already viewed.

since you have listed a lot of westerns, scifi, and crime with the comedies(did not see enough noir by the way, or akira kurosawa)

crime: since you mentioned some older woo films and oldboy,

a bittersweet life(2005)
i saw the devil(2010)
there was a good movie that i have seen a few years back, can't remember the name, but maybe someone on the board can shine in, i think it was Chinese movie in the 2000s

SPOILER ALERT

fyi, i don't remember the subtitles to be very accurate,
the movie started with an order to take out a mob member/retired assassin/old friend in his home while his family is with him, after the first fight sequence in the guys apartment(and i do remember it to be an amazing action sequence that sold me completely to watch the rest of the film), the team and the guy decided to join forces against the mob boss. there might have been a robbery scene, or a scene in a police department, there was definitely a scene at night in a restaurant/open area from what i can remember, there was also a scene in slow motion in a hallway/ maybe of another restaurant or a building later on in the film.

END OF SPOILER

western:
high noon
true grit(original)
the wild bunch(1969)
magnificent seven

maybe someone else can fill in for the sci-fi.

Midnight Run is an excellent comedy, starring Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin.
Directed by Martin Brest (Beverly Hills Cop, Scent of a Woman, Meet Joe Black)
