I want to see projects where you have use your 3d skill

seems like this thread is starting to become dead, so let me try to revive it. I just want to see some of yall work that you use 3d on. Maybe it'll give me some inspiration since I am starting out in Blender.

I've been using Blender since High school, so something like 12 years now. Since I'm a filmmaker first, 3D artist second, I really only used it in films for my company logo and some other basics. Once I moved to the feature film world, my films are becoming more CGI heavy. The next film I'm shooting this summer deals with the seven last plagues of Revelation. I'm currently trying to figure out how to use Blender to create a tidal wave that takes out New York City and will be using it in conjunction with Element 3D to create 150 lbs chunks of hail, as well as some basic explosions. If anyone has some ideas for doing a "2012" style tidal wave, let me know :)

Well I believe in showing by example. So instead of asking what other people have done, why don't you first post some of your work? Then we'll go from there. Also, there are tons of other peoples work around here but I assume you mean recent work which I also agree with. I don't know what it is about cgi guys sharing but your right. It's a shame, embarrassing and self centered.

Also most people I assume don't want to post what they think is inferior work which is fine. Or would rather ask questions on a "real" site like cgsociety. Understandable.

I understand and it's frustrating. :)

@Kurt. Really cool man. Looks nice.

Here's a funny story for you. I had Zbrush 4.3 and had a problem with GoZ with C4d. I spent about 6 hours trying to figure out the script to make it work and I came up with a tempory fix in the script.

var bc = object->GetContainer();

// and right below that I added... (because the container wasn't updating the strings.)
bc->SetData(GoZ_CONTAINER_ID, "C:/Users/Public/Pixologic/GoZProjects/Default/" + object->GetName()); //gt

So, I was all proud of myself and wanting to share then updated to Zbrush 4.4 the next day and it was fixed. LOl. Jeeez. One of those stories that noone ever hears about nor cares. LOL.

Here's an old one I did. l did a bunch more but this is still my personal favorite from my bunch.

Oddly, I don't think anyone ever used it. LOL. Weird huh? haha.
(I was hoping it would get picked up as a leader for an earlier era 40's/50's B&W Noir short but no one did one at that time. Oh well. Haha. :) )

Doing a tiny bit of zbrush if anyone is interested talking about it. It's kind of hard to because everything is so technical in nature and so creative at the other end. It's kind of like, no one can help you anyways even it you did ask.

You should try baking/passing an Ambient Occlusion pass on that. Maybe you already have; it's seems light. Great job.

I don't have any "best" work.Here's some past stuff.

A creature I was working/learning on in 2011. Learning about 3 layer skin renders and specular passes.

A fly head I was working on at the time...

Playing with Vue back then.

//edit:^Apart from the legit crits I recieved on that one, I think if I had to render it again, I'd also make the river red to represent blood. A post fix I guess. That s*%t is fun I must say.

//edit: And did anyone catch that there is a path through the trees towards the light? No ? -Beers. Yep.

You have some very impressive models there, Gord.T! Great details, how long have you been using 3d software? For some reason the "enter" button isn't letting me start a new paragraph, so I apologize for the run-on sentences here. The video of the engine is actually by another Blender user; the new YouTube "One Channel" layout can be a little confusing, his video must be showing up on a "Likes" playlist on our channel. You can find some other views of his model here: Engine Link The modeler, Mojza, was kind enough to send us the model though, and we'll actually be using it in a future video (later this year hopefully). We have a handful of videos coming out still this year, about one per month currently. Our next will be out within a week. You can find just the videos we've produced here: http://www.youtube.com/user/ClassyDogFilms/videos
