I think my AF100 died… any ideas on what's happening?

Pretty frustrated right now. Here's the deal:

I shot yesterday with another DVX member (bgundu) - studio day, two actors on a white seamless - and the cam worked great. This was after a full 5 days of paid shooting the week before; so I think I know my way around the camera pretty well…

Turned it on this afternoon in the studio, just because I wanted to play with settings and shoot some slow-mo of liquids pouring.

But no picture! Black screen! on both the lcd and evf, even the sdi out. The only difference from yesterday to today was I turned it off and then back on.

Now all the extraneous info shows up: time code, battery level, card info etc. The bars show up also on all three monitoring options - so the monitors work.

I checked and yes 'Lens Check' is set to off.

When I press the record button (either of them) the icon doesn't turn from green pause to red dot record. So I can't check and see if it records anything; because record can't be initiated.

The function knob doesn't work.

I tried a fresh battery (xª many).
I made sure the cards weren't locked, I re-formated in camera, and I swapped out to fresh ones.
I checked the shutter and it's at 180º.
I tried different lenses.

Interestingly, when I press the zebra button to turn on the marker it registers and I can see the value change as I change the lens iris (or move my hand in front of the sensor with the lens off). Yet the waveform registers nothing when I do the same…

Have I missed something???

Is there a 'reset' button hidden somewhere just like on the HVX200???

Do I have to send it back already???

Are you shure the detachment lens button is not partially pressed? If pressed, even partially, all is black. I have had some seconds of panic, after I have moved a little the lens, I have heard a click and the image appeared

Thank you!

That was the problem, and after changing lenses a couple of time I hadn't noticed it. Next time I'll know...

It is great - someone always has the answer. Plenty of opportunity to learn and grow as a filmmaker.

Wow... That was almost as scary as when the client thought there was no footage on the drive yesterday!!!

Glad your AF100 is okay. Even though I don't shoot with AF100, we all can relate to THAT feeling.

HeavyG can you post some footage from your Digioptical lenses?

Would love to… but so far pretty much everything that I've shot belongs to clients. So I can't show anything until they release it.

However - I did just shoot with bgundu, and his af100. So there will be a spot coming out shortly with a mix of the DigiOptics lenses on my cam and Nikon / Lumix on Bob's.

I can tell you, that so far I do like what I see on screen; and while they may not be Alura or ANGENIEUX mechanically - I prefer them to my set of Nikons. Also they do breathe on big focus racks...

Oh man, this happened on the set of Verse before dying..... I **** my pants. i thought i bricked the camera..... but yea just detach lens and reattach.
