"Better" is a relative term. We need to know what you intend to use it for and your budget to answer that. For some, the 150 is "better" because it's affordable and practical for long recordings. For others, the 170 is "better" because it has more broadcast support (the codec, hd-sdi, etc). But they both share the same imager and aside from slight differences in the codec (will you do any green screen or heavy color correction?) they put out exactly the same image.
