i need more glass

I've spent the past half of the year filming surfing in Central america with the dvx, equipped with the 1.6x teleconverter from Century optics. This lens is weak to say the very least, but it was the cheapest and quickest option available however i strongly recommend against purchasing this wannabe zoom lens.

The thing is, i'm vaguely familiar with the 35 mm adapter allowing 35 mm lenses to be mounted to the camera. I'm looking for more detailed information on this because at the end of the day, i want more zoom, i want to be able to get as close as possible with the surfers i film. The "bug on a bump in the sea" look isnt quite sufficient enough to produce quality footage and thats exactly what the century lens doesnt produce-quality footage.

Where's a good place to start looking at my next investment??

Haven't u heard of the adapters?? do some reading, u didnt think such a great camera would be left with a week zoom did ya?

This is actually a good question. Everyone is using the 35mm adapters to get the shallow focus and texture... so generally f/1.4 lenses or so. But I also have some interest in using one to mount, say, a 400-800mm lens. But most lenses of that length are f/2.8 at best, so I wonder if anyone has real experience using this sort of combination.

I'd also be curious about something REALLY oddball, like the huge Russian 500mm mirror f/5.6 fixed lens I used to have.

yes I have heard of these adapters, and you should follow your own advice and read up on them yourself. There are plenty of topics discussing them here and elsewhere.

I have said over and over on this board. The primary reason for owning an XL2 is reach. Not 20X zoom reach, but 500mm eos lens reach....

I was in Maui last year for the holidays, some guys were filming surfers with an XL2 and EOS glass, it was the perfect combination...
