I have the following equipment that I want to sell and I have someone that is interested in it. However, I have never sold video equipment before so I need some help on pricing. I priced everything out at B&H photo to buy new and it came to $7,946.35. Is there a general rule of thumb for how much to take off for used video equipment in good condition? Here is the list with new prices:

(1) Sony DSR-250NG3 Camera Kit (includes charger, 2 Batteries, tripod adapter plate, and a sonny Bag) Camera hours as follows:
Operation 15 x 10H
Drum Run 9 x 10H
Tape Run 5 X 10H
Threading 9 x 10H
....$4699.95 after rebate

(1) Century Precision Optics 0.065x Wide Angle converter...$399.95

(1) Century Precision Optics Wide Angle DV Matte Box -15mm Rods (holds two filters-one rotates)....$1279.95

(1) Schneider 4x4" filter Kit (ND) .9, Black Frost 1/2 and a True-pol filter...$343.50

(2) BP-L40 Lithium-Ion Batteries ( I could only find them used-one for 249 and one for 199) ....$448.00

(1) Sony PVM9L2 9" Portable field monitor This model has been discontinued but I found a price for ...$775.00

What would be a fair price for all of this? Its all in good working condition.
Thank you for your help.

Can someone at least point me to a place where I could find out how to price this equipment?

Ebay/craigslist? What you have there would be ideal for a wedding shooter, a shoulder-mounted version of the PD150 essentially. Maybe WEVA forums? Maybe consider selling it used through B&H?

Thanks for the Reply Barry,

Is there some general rule for used equipment like 30% off or 40% off current prices? I have someone interested- I just do not know what is a fair price to charge.

No rule at all. It's all supply & demand. If you were trying to sell a used BetaSP package you might expect to get 5% of what you paid for it. A DSR250 has a limited market that it would appeal to; it doesn't offer 24p at all so few here would be interested in it, but it does have good low-light performance and is shoulder-mounted, so a wedding shooter would likely pay more for it than a typical DVXUser member would.

That's why I said check out the WEVA forums, they may have histories of recent transactions and could give you an idea of what the going rate might be.

But in the end, there's no set formula -- there's whatever you and your buyer agree to.
